Murder Mansion
The Story
July 29th, 2012. Estimated time of incident: 12:46 AM. Location: Victim's bedroom
On July 29th around the time of 8 AM, a young man by the name of Fredrick Smith was found murdered in his bed in the Clawson Mansion. It is estimated that he was killed in the night in his sleep, though there are no witnesses to confirm or deny this. Fredrick Smith was a good friend of the owner of the Mansion, Sheila Clawson. He was staying over for several months while he was on vacation. At today's date, it is nearly three months since Fredrick came to visit his friend. It was reported that no one was awake at the said time and none of them were awakened by the scream, except for Sheila's oldest daughter, who was half awake at the time and didn't process what had happened. The body was discovered by Chase Clawson in the morning.
There are currently no suspects aside from those staying in the mansion. Clues are scattered about. Sheila has hired 15 detectives to come into her house and look around for clues in hopes that someone could solve the mystery of her dear friend's death.
The detectives are to be sent in tonight.
Perhaps one of them, or maybe more than one, can solve this murder.
How to Play
Hello everyone, and welcome to Murder Mansion 2! Some of you may remember the old Murder Mansion that was never finished on the Joodle Board, and it was such a success that I decided to bring it back. I have the whole thing planned out, and it's going to be great! Well, whether or not it is great depends on YOU. That's right. Sign up and be active, and have a lot of fun! Those are the basic rules, but scroll down to the rules after reading this for more on that.
For those of you who don't know, Murder Mansion is a game where fifteen of you go in as detectives to this giant mansion I have created in order to solve the mystery of a murder, and in this case, the one of Fredrick Smith. In Murder Mansion, you search around the Mansion for clues and do other interactions with the area in order to solve the mystery. There are several things you can do. You can look underneath an object, interact with them, etc. When you first enter a room in the mansion, I'll give you a description of it. For example: "The Living Room is painted blue and has several pictures hanging about. There is one main couch that seats three people with a woman sitting on it, and two side chairs parallel to it. A coffee table sits in the center, and several drawers decorate the sides." Given that description, you may want to do several things in the room to check for clues. Once you post what you would like to do, I will post the results of your action. For example:
Player 1: I'll look underneath the Coffee Table
Me: You find a pair of keys and an old sock.
Player 2: I'll talk to the woman sitting on the couch.
Me: The woman smiles. "Hello! You must be one of the detectives. What would you like to ask?"
To give a few examples.
Various things you can do:
Inspect an object: If you chose to inspect an object in the room, I'll tell you a more close description of it for more information on that object.
Look underneath an object, behind an object, above an object, in an object, etc...: Exactly what it says on the tin. I'll tell you the results.
Talk to someone: You can talk to a character in the room or another detective player to learn information from them. You can also interrogate people in the mansion.
Use an item: You can use an item depending on what it is. For example, you can use a key on a locked door, a broom on a dusty floor, a shovel to dig a hole in the ground, etc. You can use pretty much any object for whatever you want, as long as it makes sense. You can't use a shovel for eating your food, for example, though eating your food isn't something that will help solve the case really.
Kill someone: ...If you have a weapon, you can do this. I'm warning you, though. If someone catches you and brings evidence, like another player or a character I control in the room, you can be turned in and you can be kicked out of the game. If you kill another player's character, then they are clearly out of the game. You can do it, it's just not recommended. There is only so much you can achieve by killing another player.
Steal something: Exactly what it says on the tin v.2. From the mansion, a character in the mansion, or another detective.
Go to another room: There will be a list of rooms posted when the game starts. You can just chose whatever room you want to go to and I'll give you a description. It's as simple as that!
Take an object: Different from stealing because you're taking items laying about that are important rather than stealing jewelry or something valuable . Taking from another player is stealing, though.
Share with someone: Share your object or the object's information with another player. If you say this, the information will be available to all players to use for solving the mystery.
And many more! Heck, you can do about everything, like give one of my characters or another player character a hug, but just think about how useful that can be before you do something : P. Don't want to waste time.
Each player has an inventory I'll update every so often. If the item is not in your inventory, you cannot use it. If a character in the mansion tells another character but not you a clue or a piece of information, then you must pretend like your character does NOT know what that clue is and you must go and ask the other character or the character who said the information for it. A player can chose whether or not to share the information. You can win as a group or as an individual. That being said, the contents of notes or anything else inspected aren't known to anyone else besides the character who has the note or the person who inspected the object. The way you win is you find out who the murderer is and present who did it, how they did it, and why they may have done it. Again, you can all win as a group if you want to work with everyone else or just a few other people or you can win as an individual person. It's however you chose! You're the character!
There will be clues about the mansion and people in the mansion will have ideas. Have fun exploring and figuring out who the murderer is!
Please ask me any questions if you have them.
Rules
1. STAY ACTIVE! If you don't, Murder Mansion will die and the answer will never be revealed.
2. I can give your items away if you're not active to an active player.
3. You can do most anything you want, but please try not to grab a knife and go on a crazy murdering spree. Fun, I know, but that's not the game's point.
4. As I said before, you don't know something unless your character has been given the information.
5. You also can't use a key that your character doesn't have.
6. You can't enter a locked room, of course. You need a key to do that. If the person with the key decides to lock the room again, then they can do that.
7. The results of your actions and the response is all up to me, not you. I have the solution written down on a document so I know what you should be doing, so no favoring here : P. You can't decide the results yourself. "I look under the couch and see a knife." No. I tell you what's under the couch xD.
8. If you want to join, put the word "squeaky toy" somewhere creatively in your post.
9.ShionGnats (derrrrrrrrrrrrrp) is awesome.
10. You have to provide evidence if you think you know the murderer.
11. No randomly guessing who it is.
12. Have fun!
13. AAAH, IT'S THE NUMBER THIRTEEN! BAD LUCK! *screams and explodes*
