Given Info!
Name: Amber Grey
Species: Blue Ixi
Anthro/Quad: Quad
Age: approx 35
Gender: female
Status: It's complicated
Job:: although primarilly Amber plays her cards at cheat for a living, she is not above piracy and petty theft. An expert sailor and a fairly good eye, this used to be her area of expertise.
Organisation: NA. "Never trust a pirate? Nay friend, never trust a buisiness-person!"
Heart: Alligned chaotic dark. Leans to either side, however, as it suits her..
Homeland: brightvale, allthough she grew up on krawk island.
House: The rooftops. as long as I don't get caught
Special: Amber has russet-colored, pteri-like wings that glow with a vibrant flame plumage. Allthough the blaze does not burn those who touch it, water extinguishes it, and causes the wings to appear coal-black and as bare as those of a korbat.
Appearance
Hair: moderately long, silky, muted-blue fur coveres the ixi's entire body.
Eyes: Slitted. Changes color from red to orange to yellow. turns deep grey when Amber is injured.
Skin: Has a thin, ragged scar across her last 2 ribs on the right side, and a crisscross of surgical scars across her spine and sholders. The skin on her wings does not match the color of the rest of her skin.
Clothing: A modified tunic and a thin golden band around her left hind hoof.
Personal Info!
Personality: Amber is rather outgoing, often charging, and possibly flying into dangerous situations fearlessly. She is confident in her abilities, but not so much in those of others. She doesn't trust easily, and she often ends up spending more time tracking her allies than her enemies. She likes petpets, seeing them as more people than other neopeans. Fond of alcahol, cobralls and walking out of a cheat game with more payoffs than the winner, Amber knows to play her cards carefully in life, despite her go-getter attitude.
Past: Amber was born in brightvale. She didnt stay in brightvale, though... Born to a poor family and hoping to strike it rich elsewhere, she saw her mother and two siblings more as a setback than as the loving family they tried to be.
And strike it rich she did. She joined a crew of thirty-eight others and set out to sea on an archaeologist's ship. She occasionally sent a few neopoints back home, but she wasn't concerned about family at this point. A few of the neopeans onboard, nine of them, to be exact, thought the pay was'nt enough. They wanted to swing the ship around to krawk harbor and take what they believed to be theirs. Amber herself was a bit put-off by the salary of 5000 np a week. One of the members of the subgroup approached Amber one night, promising to pay well if she joined them when they planned to attempt mutiny that night. The mutineers gave her two options. join them or die as a witness. What choice was there?
It was Amber that broke the captain's back. It was amber that took control, steering the ship towards Krawk island. It was amber who decided she she liked the old ship. She got her pay, that and more, when they arrived. The cargo of the ship was practically priceless. It still was'nt an even split, but it was better than nothing. Amber wasn't satisfied. She was looking for adventure. So she took a goos-sized crew and sailed north, across a rather signifigant trade route. Ships were sunk or stolen, neopoints changed hands by the ten-thousands. The crew grew in size. and notoriety. Some saw this as a threat. Amber, who had fairly recently plundered a small and underprotected village inland of the nearest dock, put a lot of trust in her crew. Too much, perhapse... Needless to say, it was not hard to find ways into the crew, and someone... who shall remain anonymous, decided to do exactly that. By this time Amber was quite an experianced captain. She was a good fighter and an even better navigator, but she was by far no leader. She was successful simply because of her skill, not her charisma. And that was her eventual downfall...
Mutiny was the one thing she had never planned for. She lost the ship, her fortune, and nearly her life, hardly a mile off the shores of meridell. Two other more loyal members of her crew, a green ogrin named Lunara Hebonyet and a yellow-furred kyrii named Kanarynn were the only non-mutineers to escape. Lunara was'nt afraid to get her paws dirty, though, and Kanaryn was a pickpocket. They did'nt have as much as they used to, but between fleeing each thouroghly-scammed region for another and launching hopelessly-underplanned and often-backfiring invasions on fortified structures, they had enough to do to keep their spirits up.
Amber was more well-liked by some of the... erm... sketchier community, and many people owed her favors. in particular, a rather advanced surgeon, shunned for his unorthodox practices. He owed her much more than the others. he owed her wings. Oh, no one missed the moltaran Eyrie that dissappeared that day. No one ever misses Dr.Shard L. Vulpin the third's expiraments.
Plus: Talented at steering very large, primitive ships. eccelent sense of direction. Gifted at card games. Capable of flight. Rather witty. Thick skinned
Minus: Snappy, slow to make a point, untrusting, narrow interests, likes to taunt others. holds grudges to the grave and beyond.
Extra: I may be making Lunaro and Shard Vulpin as companion characters. Amber has a pet cobrall, but it doesnt have a name.
