For centuries, supernatural beings clung to the shadows of anonymity and myth, refusing to allow themselves to step into the light – or to allow anyone to confirm their existence. Afraid of what might happen if they were revealed, they fought even amongst themselves to keep anyone from realizing that they existed.



And then, a decade ago, a whisper in the right ear – a murmur to the right people – launched the beginning of a revolution. Vampires, aided by the five families of witches and those cursed as werewolves, catapulted supernaturals onto the top of the world, seizing control of the government and ripping it asunder. They replaced it with their own Council, ruling through force and fear.



It is inevitable that everything has a price, and that price was taken from the hides of the very humans they’d sought to protect themselves from. In numbers, they could prove dangerous; divided, frightened, and enslaved, they were little more than animals – serving as food, entertainment or worse.



Though some have attempted to rebel, their efforts have been largely unsuccessful; most of those involved in those attempts have been slaughtered, the very ground they sought to hide in burned and salted. In the wake of a massacre, both sides have polarized, and while some have started to wonder at the state of the world… others have become more determined to maintain the status quo. The world can’t ever return to what it was, but it could become something more than simply a shadow of what it had once been.



But absolute power corrupts absolutely – and those who have it have no intention of giving it up.
