Lana carefully walked down the trail behind the gypsy camp. Neovia may be the most normal part of the Haunted Woods, but it was still a part of the creepiest place in all of Neopia. 'A forest full of goblins ghouls, vampires, and even the occasional necromancer' Lana thought. The outskirts of the town were in sight, and the sight of street lamps made her feel a lot safer than in the Haunted Woods proper or the Deserted Fairgounds. A voice spoke from her bag, "Never thought I'd be back here after that damned Faerie cursed me." Lana paused by the entrance to an alleyway and spoke softly to the Halloween Zafara plushie. "Dark Faeries respond horribly to criticism, and you went and called her spells and potions worthless garbage. It's a wonder she didn't blast you to bits right then and there. I'm just glad she's given you a chance to return to normal. This is one Faerie Quest we don't want to fail." Erebus just chuckled. "When I've crafted better spells as an assassin? She had terrible rewards for quests and frankly Dark Faeries are prone to being malicious. Oh, and watch your six. This town has some local toughs who don't like people on their turf." The plush went silent. Lana hated when he did this. Her master assassin mentor had an annoying habit of making sure he got in the last word.
As she walked down the street most of the locals gave her funny looks like they hadn't seen many Maraquan Gelerts before. She supposed that since the town had been under some kind of curse, they didn't know about New Maraqua and the subsequent war with the Pirates. They'd probably hadn't seen too many Maraquans period, considering they didn't travel this far inland. Her reflection on this subject meant she didn't see the Kacheek in front of her until she nearly ran over him.
